At ZEAL-TO-HEAL, we help patients regain control of their bodies and symptoms that come with changes, such as menopause and andropause. One of the issues we treat is hormone imbalance. Hormone balance plays a critical part in keeping our bodies healthy, fit, and active. Several medical conditions and factors can contribute to hormone imbalance, including changes that result naturally from age. No matter the cause, natural hormonal balance can be restored by Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Most people have heard of HRT and immediately think of the common treatment for menopause and andropause in mature adults. However, there are several other circumstances where treatment might be warranted. Younger individuals can also suffer from low hormonal levels that impact their life and relationships, although hormone imbalance symptoms differ between men and women.
A simple blood test is the best way to check your hormone levels. We can do the blood draw right in our office to get your started, saving you time and frustration. Our doctors can then review the results with you and create a customized treatment plan if hormone replacement is warranted.
Prior to treatment, our ZEAL-TO-HEAL physicians use your individual lab results to create a customized treatment plan. Based on the results of your lab work, your weight, height and gender, our compounding pharmacy creates a custom hormone pellet formulation just for you. Once implanted, hormones are released as they are needed based on your activity level, mimicking the body's natural behavior.
Natural hormone pellet therapy is a painless, minor surgical procedure that involves inserting small hormone pellets, about the size of a grain of rice, beneath the skin. Our doctors and nurse practitioner administer pellet insertion in a simple in-office procedure done under local anesthesia. The pellets are inserted just under the skin in the upper buttocks through a very small opening. The incision is then closed with surgical glue or sterile-tape strips and a waterproof bandage. Once implanted, treatment takes effect within 48 to 72 hours. The pellets release hormones steadily as needed over time until dissolving completely, which usually occurs about 4 months later. This means treatment is only needed 3-4 times per year, in great contrast to the daily or weekly treatments needed with other therapy options.
